About Me

Photography is my excuse to get outdoors. Not only does it get me outside where I love to be, it lets me capture moments in time that can be preserved forever.

My love for the outdoors began at a very early age. I was born and raised in New Mexico where my father worked for the New Mexico Game and Fish Department. Although I didn't realize it at the time, this provided me with many amazing opportunities to experience the beauty of the Rocky Mountains like few people have. Hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors were always a big part of our family and as I reflect back on the things we did as a family, I realize that I couldn't have had a better childhood.

In 1991 I moved to Indiana and although I greatly missed the Rocky Mountains and the solitude of the Southwest, I found places and ways to escape the faster pace of life in central Indiana. I enjoyed canoeing and kayaking the rivers of Indiana and soon found many beautiful getaways.

Computers and technology have also been a big part of my life for many years and I currently work full time as an IT Director for an environmental engineering firm in Indiana. Over the last few years as digital photography has matured and with the purchase of my first digital SLR, I find myself absolutely hooked on digital photography. It really is a coming together of my favorite things and is how Standifer Photography came to be.
Steve Standifer

Welcome! My name is Steve Standifer - and I am a photography junkie.

Technology has also been a big part of my life for many years and I spent a number of years as the IT & Multimedia Director for an environmental engineering firm in Indiana.

With the purchase of my first digital SLR camera, I found myself absolutely hooked on digital photography. It really is a coming together of my favorite things and is how Standifer Photography came to be in 2009. In 2013, Standifer Photography grew into ZiaPix Multimedia, when I decided to pursue my dream of making a living with my photography. This was a blast, and I provided professional photography, video, and design services to businesses of all kinds.

In 2015, my wife, Angela, and I began a journey to see the world. We traveled Europe and the South Pacific for a year, before traveling the western United States for a while. We got to Pismo Beach, CA and knew we had found our new home, so we have settled here and are beginning the next phase of our lives living in our little house on the beach, watching the whales, and enjoying the amazing sunsets.

It was too challenging to continue ZiaPix in a new location, so I no longer operate my business. My love for the fine art side of photography is as strong as ever, which is why you will find my images in homes, and businesses all across the country.
